A wedding in Shangqiu, Henan, recently went viral: a pair of twin brothers married a pair of twin sisters on the same day. The two weddings looked almost identical, earning the nickname “copy-paste happiness.” In the videos, the four newlyweds stand together like mirror images, and even the families overlap in amusing ways.

Beyond the spectacle, this “double-twin marriage” created an unusually close family bond. If both couples have children, the kids will be both cousins and siblings genetically. Experts note that such cases are rare but not unheard of, as long as the twins are fraternal rather than identical, since identical twins marrying identical twins would raise ethical and legal concerns.

The story also sparked discussion about twin genetics, the myth of “twin telepathy,” and the importance of individuality. While twins may appear deeply connected, scientists say their synchronicity comes from shared genes and shared environments—not supernatural senses.

Similar twin-to-twin marriages have happened in China and abroad. Most function well as long as roles and relationships remain clear. Ultimately, the unusual marriage reminds society that family can take many forms. As long as the relationship is voluntary, loving, and responsible, happiness doesn’t need to follow a standard template.
